The von Knorring Family

Introduction

The von Knorring family was registered in the Swedish House of Nobility in 1756, but belongs to an ancient aristocratic family line established in Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Germany. Family members are now scattered throughout the world.

The Swedish and Finnish family societies have recently published a family chronicle together with the Genealogical Society of Finland, giving the complete family history, all branches and members since the 12th century included. The book, by Pontus Möller, Karl Johann Paulsen and Gotthard von Knorring, is called ÄTTERNA KNORRING, and can be obtained through the Genealogical Society of Finland or through the family societies.

Much of the information on this web-site is taken from the family chronicle, though it still represents a mere fraction of their work. I have also used pictures and text from the Swedish family society web-site, by Harald von Knorring, together with some research of my own and pictures from other web-sites. My intention has been to provide a brief illustration of our complicated family history, for anybody with a connection to the family or with a general genealogical interest.
